Congratulations to Lundgaard Laboratory Postdoctoral Fellow and primary applicant Dr. Kelley M. Swanberg with co-applicant Dr. Yasaman Ghiasi for their recent grant of 200 000 SEK by Thorsten och Elsa Segerfalks Stiftelse för främjande av medicinsk vetenskaplig forskning och utbildning to identify the relationships among in vivo measures of tissue-level homeostasis, as well as their cellular correlates, in genetic knock-in mouse models of Alzheimer’s disease-like amyloid-beta deposition with “Harnessing multimodal magnetic resonance to identify novel treatment targets for related metabolic and vascular dysfunction in presymptomatic Alzheimer’s disease.” This project aims to examine the tissue-level blood perfusion and metabolic abnormalities, as well as the cellular manifestations thereof, of mouse models of Alzheimer’s-like proteinopathy in order to open new avenues for earlier and more effective treatment of Alzheimer’s disease in humans.
