Dr. Marios Kritsilis, together with Professor Iben Lundgaard, have been featured on the BRAIN podcast, the official podcast of the journal Brain, to discuss their recent work ‘Loss of glymphatic homeostasis in heart failure‘, published in Brain 148(3). In this paper, also highlighted in the journal with a special commentary by Professor Ian F. Harrison of University College London, Kritsilis and colleagues demonstrate perturbations in extravascular fluid flow through the brain parenchyma associated with both altered blood perfusion and cerebrovascular pulsatility in mouse models of heart failure relative to sham control, hinting at a potential mechanistic link in the relationship between heart failure and cognitive decline often seen in humans.
